Teaching your child manners is an important part of parenting. Table setting is a great way to teach children about proper table etiquette. They can learn to properly set a table when they become old enough to carry plates and cups easily. These steps will make it easy for your child to learn the proper way to set a table without fussing or tears.
Instructions
- 1
Set out printable table-setting mats to help guide your child.
2Show your child that the plate goes first in the center of the setting.
3Help your child place the cup in the upper-right area of the setting.
4Have your child fold the napkin and place it on the left side of the plate.
5Let your child put the fork on top of the napkin.
6Instruct your child to put the knife on the right side of the plate with the spoon next to it.
7Repeat these steps for a few days and then try letting your child set the table without the place mat for guidance.
