Babies and toddlers are messy eaters. If it's not on her face, chances are it's on the floor. Save yourself some time in the clean-up department by making a simple highchair floor mat for your kitchen. Simply place it underneath your child's high chair then give it a quick wipe with a damp towel after mealtime.
Instructions
- 1
Cut your printed fabric into a 45 by 45 inch square using the rotary cutter and self-healing cutting mat. Cut your vinyl fabric to the same size.
2Paperclip the printed fabric and vinyl fabric pieces together (pins are not advisable when working with vinyl), making sure that the right side of the printed fabric faces the vinyl.
3Attach the denim or leather needle and teflon foot to your sewing machine before you begin sewing. Stitch the fabric and vinyl layers together close to the edge (using no more than a 1/4-inch seam allowance). Make sure that your fabric layer is on the bottom when stitching to make it a little easier for the piece to pass through your machine.
4Unfold the bias tape and paperclip the raw edge to the raw edge of the mat you've just stitched together. Sew the bias tape to the mat to attach it in the correct position. Re-fold the bias tape over the raw edge of the mat then topstitch for a finished look.
