Centerpieces Using Rose Petals and Sand

Centerpieces Using Rose Petals and Sand

Rose petals and sand make a striking combination when used for table centerpieces. An attractive decorative accent using these elements for your dining room, kitchen or coffee table is easy to put together. Does this Spark an idea?

Size

Choose different sizes of roses petals to create the look you want for your centerpiece. Old garden roses are best if you want large, vibrant petals with a heavy aroma--bright pink or red old garden rose petals are impressive lying in the middle of a decorated bowl filled with white sand. Tea roses are a smaller type of rose and their petals are best accented in a clear glass dish. Set bright yellow or golden petals on a layer of beige sand.

Types

It's a good idea to experiment with different petal-and-sand combinations until you've created one you're satisfied with. For instance, fill a large glass cylinder with sand of different colors alternating with layers of rose petals. You could also use a smaller glass cylinders in groups of three or five; fill one with colored sand and the next with rose petals; alternate the sand and rose petal cylinders in the grouping.

Considerations

For another option, dust white rose petals with colored sand and place the petals in a decorative dish for a potpourri-style centerpiece. A few drops of rose oil will make the centerpiece especially aromatic.
