How to Repair a Leather Tabletop

Leather tabletops can become damaged from general wear and tear or spills. It is important to maintain your leather to prevent cracking. To avoid stains or overuse, place mats on your table when dining or using the table for an art project. Repair your leather tabletop to restore the health of the leather and and its aesthetic appeal.     Wipe down the leather to remove any dust or dirt with a piece of cheesecloth. For small cuts in the leather, apply a chemical compound on the tear from a leather repair kit. Allow to dry before use. The chemical compound will fill in the gap in the tabletop.

    Wet a soft sponge and rub it against a bar of saddle soap. Rub in a circular fashion over the leather tabletop to clean it and restore its look.

    Rub the soapy area with a soft towel to remove any soapy residue.

    Apply a leather conditioner with a piece of cheesecloth. Make sure that you have a thin application of conditioner over the tabletop.

    Place a dehumidifier next to your leather table to prevent mold growth during the drying process.
