Nothing shows off your favorite place settings and flatware than setting them out on crisp table linens. Aside from being attractive, a tablecloth also serves to protect the surface of your table from scratches and water rings. Dining cloths can be expensive, so you want to make sure you get the correct tablecloth size the first time. It's not hard to size a tablecloth, and since most tables, as well as table linens, come in standard sizes, this task couldn't be easier. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
How to Size a Table Cloth
- 1
Measure the length and width of your tablecloth if it is square, rectangular or oval. Measure the diameter if it is round.
2Decide how far you want your tablecloth to drape over the edge of your table, and measure how many inches that is. This is called the "drop." Most tablecloths have a drop of 10 to 12 inches on all sides.
3Double the number of your drop, and add it to your table measurements. Most tables are 30 inches high, so if you want the tablecloth to reach the floor, a 48x24-inch table would need a 78x54-inch tablecloth.
