How to Decorate Food Tables

It is almost time for the big event and you have already handled the table rentals, but you have no idea how you are going to decorate the actual tables. The important thing to remember when selecting table decorations is that countless options exist, from budget friendly to super extravagant. As long as the decorations for the food table complement the special event theme, your dinner or reception will provide a vivid memory for all.

White tablecloths are ideal and you can accent them with a variety of decorative elements. If a dominant color is yellow obtain white tablecloths and contrast them with smaller yellow tablecloths or anything else. Consider the space where you will hold the reception. Make sure your desired decorations will not clash with the banquet hall or space.

Place greenery around various dishes and it will sit atop the white tablecloths. If you have one large food table you can have a floral centerpiece to accent the table. Candles are beautiful items to add to a table, but consider how many guests will appear at the party and how long the candles will burn. Assess if someone will have time to monitor the candles.

Create tiers under the white tablecloths. Add sturdy platforms or boxes to the top back area of the table. Keep in mind heavy, warm dishes will sit on top of the platforms so strength is a must. The purpose of adding tiers to the table is adding dimension and making the spread of food appear more lavish. You will need additional tablecloths to create this look. You can also buy tiered trays for adding height to certain dishes of food. If you decide to not use tiers an entirely flat table looks elegant and sophisticated.

Adding rose petals to a white tablecloth is also a creative way to decorate a food table. Another option is to purchase yards of tulle. It is a decorative fabric often used for making bows, or yards of it are placed as runners on food tables to provide depth to a table. It is a very feminine accent that is often used at events on the table where the cake is located.

Decorate food tables for informal outdoor events with an array of fruits and inexpensive flowers. If table covers are necessary use linen like paper table covers which are disposable. For beach themed events, cookouts and luaus accent tables with whole coconuts, pineapples and fresh tropical flowers. Use a raffia grass table skirt for a food table at a luau themed party. For events centered around the beach, consider using fish netting and large sea shells to decorate any food tables. Depending on the theme, countless options exist for decorating food tables for any type of event.
