Getting together outdoors usually includes food, family, friends and fun. Whether it is an official party or an all day long event with the kids and their friends, you need a place to set the food. Other outdoor activities such as planting and crafts require work space to complete the task. An outdoor table is an invaluable tool for those who spend a great deal of their life outdoors and in the yard. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
Cutting the Lumber
- 1
Measure and mark the center of each 8-foot board. Cut each in half, giving you six 4-foot long pieces.
2Mark a 35-degree angle on the ends of four of the 4-foot sections. These will be the legs.
3Cut each 35 degree angle off each marked piece of lumber with the saw.
Assembling the Pieces
- 4
Lay the two uncut 4-foot pieces parallel to each other 4 feet apart. Place the 6-foot pieces parallel to each other across the 4-foot sections. Make the two outer pieces flush with the 4-foot sections underneath and leave equal space between the others. This will form the table top.
5Fasten each of the 6-foot sections to the 4-foot sections beneath with the power screwdriver and deck screws. Use at least two screws at each fastening point of the boards.
6Find the middle of each of the 4-foot leg pieces with the measuring tape, measuring from end to end and side to side on the flat side of each piece.
7Drill a hole in the middle section of all four leg pieces using the drill with the 3/8-inch bit.
8Place two of the leg pieces on top of each other. Make sure the holes line up and at each end the points are opposite of each other. Thread a carriage bolt through the holes. Place a washer and nut on the carriage bolt and hand tighten. Repeat this process for the other two legs.
9Place the table top upside down. Spread out the leg sections. Attach the leg ends to the 4-foot pieces that are part of the table top with clamps. Flush the pointed ends to the outside of the table. Repeat the step for the other set of legs.
10Drill a hole through the horizontal 4-foot sections and leg ends at the clamped ends with the drill and 3/8-inch bit . Thread a bolt at each leg/table end. Remove the clamps. Place a washer and nut on each bolt and tighten with the adjustable wrench.
