Decorating a Cream Sofa

Decorating a Cream Sofa

Cream-colored sofas aren't just for homes without children and pets anymore. Today's light-colored couches are made from durable, stain-resistant materials that easily stand up to wear and tear. However, leaving a plain, cream-colored sofa standing alone can look boring and uninviting. Give your bland couch a makeover by offsetting the color with a variety of furnishings and stylish accessories. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Neutral Colors

    1

Place a cappuccino-colored 5-by-7-foot area rug in front of the couch. Position the rug no more than 2 feet from the sofa.

    2

Place two end tables in a color darker than the sofa on either side of it. Arrange a few functional and decorative items on the tables. For example, matching lamps or bright-colored picture frames complement a couch nicely.

    3

Fold a red chenille throw in half, and drape it over the center and back of the couch. Put two pillows on each side of the couch, two tan and two chocolate.

Beach Ensemble

    4

Go soft in your decorating approach by choosing a blue decorating scheme. Arrange throw pillows in royal or powder blue on the couch. Line them up in a row, or place two on each end.

    5

Fold a soft light blue chenille throw in half, and drape it across the back of the couch. Arrange two wicker end tables on each side of the sofa, and place a seashell-filled lamp on either side.

    6

Hang a seashell-embellished mirror above the couch, and place a soft sand-colored rug in front of the couch.
